Google introduces Earthquake Alert System in India

Google has launched Earthquake Alert Feature in India in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority and the National Seismology Center.

This will notify the users about the earthquake before it arrives in that location.

The Android Earthquake Alerts Feature uses the built-in sensors in Android smartphones, which are known as accelerometers which can used as a miniature seismometers.

Android devices with Android 5 or newer versions will receive this feature in the coming week.

The devices needs Wi-Fi or cellular data connectivity to ensure that both the Android Earthquake Alerts and location settings are enabled.

There is an option for turning off the settings for receiving the earthquake alerts.

The earthquake alert System is already available in many other countries which uses accelerometers to detect tremors and act as small seismometer to warn users about the earthquake.

Google says that the alert will be available in various languages available in the android devices.
